when i read the post on healthybitchdaily.com last night i felt the bar of chocolate i had just eaten was justified : ).
not that i need an excuse to eat chocolate, ever, but did you know chocolate is made from fruit?! apparently chocolate (cocoa) is made from the seeds of the fruit of the theobroma cacao tree. i did not know that (maybe because i thought cocoa “beans” were actual beans), but this is great news.
you know what’s even better. dark chocolate. i knew that dark chocolate was full of antioxidants, but it’s also a good source of magnesium, iron, and chromium. it’s good for the heart, it’s an aphrodisiac, it elevates your mood and energy, and increases longevity (i guess i will live forever)! oh and who cares about the fat and sugar and calories, i think it’s one of the greatest things on earth.
i know some people don’t care for the taste of bittersweet chocolate (ian) and i’m sorry if you are one of those people- i guess i’m just lucky i crave the healthier chocolate, but either way i think everyone should indulge in some kind of chocolate every once in awhile.
and if you ate lots of chocolate on valentine’s day, don’t fret : )
