purple monster

I just lost my green monster virginity! Well kind of, it actually turned out to be a purple-ish monster.

I didn’t have a blender on hand so I used my grandma’s duel speed (high and low!) old school food processor. This thing was a nightmare. It wouldn’t work unless you pushed down and back on the lid. And it only worked sporadically.

ha, anyways….

in the mix:

1/2 cup of mixed berries: blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries

1 banana (i always give the ends to Olive)

1 cup of almond milk

1 cup of spinach!

My mom thought I was crazy, but it was really good! Just tasted like a smoothie. I could feel a few spinach bits in it, but that could have been due to the ghetto food processor (couldn’t taste it all though). I will definitely be making these more often! yum.

  1. ALL my green monsters turn out purple 🙂 I though I was doing it wrong, but my love for berries out shined the spinach. Good though, aren’t they?!

  2. Yay!!! Congrats on your first [not-so] green monster! 🙂 Aren’t they amazing?!?! Mine never really turn green either.

  3. Haha yayyy! I drink a green monster almost daily – they’re so delish aren’t they?! It still amazes me that I can’t taste the spinach

  5. This is my favorite combo! For an extra veggie punch, add a heaping 1/2 cup of pureed pumpkin. Trust me on this one 🙂 it’s delish!

My green monsters are rarely just green. They often turn out rather purple. 😉 Yours looks yummy, I often make very similar ones. And *always* with almond milk! 😀
